Natural remedies for severe respiratory problems?

My Grandma has bronchial pneumonia coupled with asthma. While her doctor has her on pretty serious medication, I'm wondering if anyone can suggest herbal or holistic remedies to aide in her recovery. Also, I'm wondering if anyone has had any luck with using oil or oregano for respiratory infections.
